By plane

All major airlines and several low-cost airlines fly into Vienna or Bratislava.

Vienna Airport – Schwechat

When you arrive at Vienna Airport – Schwechat there are several possibilities to get to the city:

The commuter train / Schnellbahn (ÖBB) runs every half hour and takes about 25 minutes to the city center. This is the less expensive option and costs € 3.40, but it stops at many stations. Tickets are available at the machine just before you go downstairs to the platform.
The best station to get off might be "Wien Mitte" (transfer possibilities to underground lines U3 and U4, train to the stations "Südtirolerplatz" or "Liesing", from where you get to the practice or the competition – check this links for more details).

The CAT (City Airport Train) runs non-stop from the airport to the city center (station: "Wien Mitte") and takes 16 minutes. So it is faster and easier to travel with it than with the commuter train but it costs € 10 one way (online € 9) and €16 return.

There are several bus connections (Vienna Airport Lines) into Vienna for € 7 one way or € 12 return, transporting you to the destinations Schwedenplatz / Morzinplatz (U4 and U1), to Bahnhof Wien Meidling (U6, commuter trains "Schnellbahn", two tram stops away to the practice), or to the Westbahnhof, as well as to the Donauzentrum (U1. Tickets are available on the bus.

You can find more information and links here: From and to Vienna Airport

Bratislava Airport – Letisko

If you arrive at Bratislava Airport – Letisko there are shuttle buses (Terravision) that take about 80 minutes to get to Vienna.
Caution: When making the reservation, check to see if the shuttle bus is included in the plane ticket or has to be booked separately!

By train

Vienna has two major train stations, which are undergoing major reconstruction to become one main "Central train station". At the moment the most trains are arriving at and leave from Wien Meidling station, but most trains are still stopping at Westbahnhof:

Wien Meidling (replacement for former Südbahnhof)

The most important connections are the underground line U6 (station: Philadelphiabrücke) and the commuter train line (Schnellbahn/S-Bahn). If you are going direct to the competition venue from the train station, take the commuter train (Schnellbahn) towards Mödling or Wiener Neustadt. The trip to Liesing, the competition station, takes about 9 minutes.

Westbahnhof (West Train Station)

The underground lines U3 and U6 and several street car lines connect the Westbahnhof with the rest of the city.

If you are going to the competition site direct from the Westbahnhof, take the underground line U6 to Philadelphiabrücke and then the commuter train line (Schnellbahn) to Liesing. This takes about 24 minutes.

By car

Motorway A1 reaches Vienna from the west,
A2 from the south and
A4 from the east.

You need a motorway vignette (road tax sticker) to drive on motorways in Austria (available at petrol/gas stations). An inexpensive option is to buy a 10-day vignette.

We recommend you buy a city map to help get around or use the following link for city map and routeplaner: Google maps.

Parking in Vienna:

For the districts 1 through 9 and 20 (short-term parking areas), you need a parking permit between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. In the other districts, only in designated short- term parking areas. The permits (for a maximum of two hours) are available at tobacconist shops and at the ticket machines in the underground stations.

Parking at the competition venue:

There are plenty of free parking spaces right next to the competition site.
